17/02/15: LETTER SUBMITTED TO BRENTWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Parish Council continues to work hard behind the scenes to fight excessive development in and around West Horndon. Following a further very positive and supportive meeting today with our MP Eric Pickles, we were informed that the request for an extension of time for the Strategic Growth Options Consultation was turned down, but agreement was given for us to submit a supplementary response based on new and additional information becoming available.
This afternoon we submitted a letter to the Chief Executive at Brentwood Borough Council confirming this and reserving the right of a supplementary response from not just the Parish Council, but also our residents.
A copy of the letter can be found here.
27/02/2016: RESIDENTS SURVEY ONLINE AND LIVE!
The survey is now closed. Thank you to all who participated
The survey covers the LDP and Lower Thames Crossing. We need your views to help inform our own response!
Please respond online or alternatively, there is a hard copy coming to every home via the parish newsletter.
17/09/2015: ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL BUS REVIEW - CONSULTATION
Essex County Council have launched a bus review consultation of its services, open now and closing on 21st October 2015. Access to the consultation can be found at http://www.essexhighways.org/Transport-and-Roads/Getting-Around/Bus/Bus-review.aspx. Changes to services primarily appear to impact the northern areas of Essex, with the two bus services through West Horndon (265 and 565) not impacted (565 is specifically mentioned as not impacted in the supporting documentation, and the 265 is a Thurrock supported service, outside of ECC's remit). For those residents regularly using bus transport across the wider borough and county, a review of the consultation may be of interest.
You must be eligible to work in the UK to apply for this position.
Applications can be sent to the Chairman, Mr Colin Foan, WHPC, c/o 124 Boyce Road, Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, SS17 8RJ, telephone 07905416941, or via email at email@example.com.
Closing date 7th February 2016.
13/09/2015: WEST HORNDON CITIZENSHIP AWARD CEREMONY
The West Horndon Citizenship Award ceremony will be held at the start of our WHPC September meeting - 24th September at the Village Hall, at 7.30pm. As usual there will be refreshments served, and there is no obligation to stay for our full meeting after the ceremony!
18/09/2015: WEST HORNDON RECYCLING CENTER - WE WANT YOUR VIEWS!
There is an ongoing dialogue between West Horndon Parish Council and Brentwood Borough Council regarding the future of the West Horndon Recycling Center (the recycling center opposite the Railway Pub/West Horndon station). To inform any decision that is made, we would welcome as many residents as possible give us their views on the recycling centre. We have created a survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LJFP3XY - it is very quick to complete and open to all residents.
Please do take 2 minutes to complete the survey - we need as many views as possible to ensure that any decision to keep it open or closed truely reflects the views of the wider community, not just the council!
