Kathy Turner

Roles: Transport Group (Lead), Communications Group (Lead), Planning Group

Date Joined WHPC: Sep-13

Personal Statement: I moved to West Horndon late 2011 having lived in London for many years.  Whilst I knew my neighbours, I will admit I didn't know too many people in the village for a few years after moving in.  However, in the summer of 2013 I contacted Tony Crowley as chair of the WHPC following the release of the draft Local Development Plan by Brentwood, as I wanted to be involved in the work undertaken by the village in response to the proposals presented in the LDP.  As part of this, I became a member of the community group used as a sounding board by the Parish Council in preparation of a response on the proposed plan.  After the LDP consultation period ended, I was keen to remain involved in what was clearly an ongoing process, and given there were vacant spaces on the council, I formally joined WHPC in September 2013.

Whilst my focus has always been on ensuring West Horndon has as much say as possible in the shape of any development within the village in the future, I have also taken on lead roles for the transport and communications group.  The West Horndon community has been extremely welcoming since both moving here, and being voted on to the Parish Council, and my aim is to give back to the community through my role as Parish Councillor.
